Dreaming up a Good Book
The original story of Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus was written anonymously in 1818. Later on, Mary Shelley was recognized for her work. It was a surprising revelation since women were just beginning to break into the publishing industry. Her inspiration came from a dream she had at the age of 19. During that time the medical profession was beginning. Some of her nightmare was enhanced by news of doctors experimenting with electricity during the time.

The original story of Frankenstein came to Mary Shelley in a dream. She was vacationing with friends in Switzerland and due to bad weather, they were forced to stay indoors. They entertained each other by telling horror stories. That night Mary dreamed of a scientist who tries to creat life by using body parts from dead people and electricity. The misunderstood and mute monster is born. Though sensitive and , he is horribly disfigured. Through his loneliness and rejection, he becomes violent.
